List of racial discriminations in Malaysia

This is a comment posted by “human book”, a few days ago. I am`posting it as a new post because of its length, and I believe its pretty important to know this stuff(if its true?)
any comments regarding this list are welcome

List of racial discriminations in Malaysia, practiced by government as well as government agencies. This list is an open secret. Best verified by government itself because it got the statistics.

This list is not in the order of importance, that means the first one on the list is not the most important and the last one on the list does not mean least important.

This list is a common knowledge to a lot of Malaysians, especially those non-malays (Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli, Tamils, etc) who were being racially discriminated.

Figures in this list are estimates only and please take it as a guide only. Government of Malaysia has the most correct figures. Is government of Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by publishing racial statistics?

This list cover a period of about 48 years since independence (1957).

List of racial discriminations (Malaysia):

(1) Out of all the 5 major banks, only one bank is multi-racial, the rest are controlled by malays

(2) 99% of Petronas directors are malays

(3) 3% of Petronas employees are Chinese

(4) 99% of 2000 Petronas gasoline stations are owned by malays

(5) 100% all contractors working under Petronas projects must be bumis status

(6) 0% of non-malay staffs is legally required in malay companies. But there must be 30% malay staffs in Chinese companies.

(7) 5% of all new intake for government police, nurses, army, is non-malays.

(8) 2% is the present Chinese staff in Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), drop from 40% in 1960

(9) 2% is the percentage of non-malay government servants in Putrajaya. But malays make up 98%

(10) 7% is the percentage of Chinese government servants in the whole government (in 2004), drop from 30% in 1960

(11) 95% of government contracts are given to malays

(12) 100% all business licensees are controlled by malay government e.g. Taxi permits, Approved permits, etc

(13) 80% of the Chinese rice millers in Kedah had to be sold to malay controlled Bernas in 1980s. Otherwise, life is make difficult for Chinese rice millers

(14) 100 big companies set up, owned and managed by Chinese Malaysians were taken over by government, and later managed by malays since 1970s e.g. UTC, UMBC, MISC, etc

(15) At least 10 Chinese owned bus companies (throughout Malaysia, throughout 40 years) had to be sold to MARA or other malay transport companies due to rejection by malay authority to Chinese application for bus routes and rejection for their application for new buses

(16) 2 Chinese taxi drivers were barred from driving in Johor Larkin bus station. There are about 30 taxi drivers and 3 are Chinese in October 2004. Spoiling taxi club properties was the reason given

(17) 0 non-malays are allowed to get shop lots in the new Muar bus station (November 2004)

(18) 8000 billions ringgit is the total amount the government channeled to malay pockets through ASB, ASN, MARA, privatisation of government agencies, Tabung Haji etc, through NEP over 34 years period

(19) 48 Chinese primary schools closed down since 1968 - 2000

(20) 144 Indian primary schools closed down since 1968 - 2000

(21) 2637 malay primary schools built since 1968 - 2000

(22) 2.5% is government budget for Chinese primary schools. Indian schools got only 1%, malay schools got 96.5%

(23) While a Chinese parent with RM1000 salary (monthly) cannot get school-text-book-loan, a malay parent with RM2000 salary is eligible

(24) 10 all public universities vice chancellors are malays

(25) 5% - the government universities lecturers of non-malay origins had been reduced from about 70% in 1965 to only 5% in 2004

(26) Only 5% is given to non-malays for government scholarships over 40 years

(27) 0 Chinese or Indians were sent to Japan and Korea under “Look East Policy”

(28) 128 STPM Chinese top students could not get into the course that they aspired i.e. Medicine (in 2004)

(29) 10% place for non-bumi students for MARA science schools beginning from year 2003, but only 7% are filled. Before that it was 100% malays

(30) 50 cases whereby Chinese and Indian Malaysians, are beaten up in the National Service program in 2003

(31) 25% is Malaysian Chinese population in 2004, drop from 45% in 1957

(32) 7% is the present Malaysian Indians population (2004), a drop from 12% in 1957

(33) 2 millions Chinese Malaysians had emigrated to overseas since 40 years ago

(34) 0.5 million Indian Malaysians had emigrated to overseas

(35) 3 millions Indonesians had migrated into Malaysia and became Malaysian citizens with bumis status.

(36) 600000 are the Chinese and Indian Malaysians with red IC and were rejected repeatedly when applying for citizenship for 40 years. Perhaps 60% of them had already passed away due to old age. This shows racism of how easily Indonesians got their citizenships compare with the Chinese and Indians

(40) 1 Dewan Gan Boon Leong (in Malacca) was altered to other name (e.g. Dewan Serbaguna or sort) when it was being officially used for a few days. Government try to shun Chinese names. This racism happened in around year 2000 or sort

(41) 0 temples/churches were built for each housing estate. But every housing estate got at least one mosque/surau built

(42) 3000 mosques/surau were built in all housing estates throughout Malaysia since 1970. No temples, no churches are required to be built in housing estates

(43) 1 Catholic church in Shah Alam took 20 years to apply to be constructed. But told by malay authority that it must look like a factory and not look like a church. Still not yet approved in 2004

(44) 1 publishing of Bible in Iban language banned (in 2002)

(45) 0 of the government TV stations (RTM1, RTM2, TV3) are directors of non-malay origins

(47) 10 times, at least, malays (especially Umno) had threatened to massacre the Chinese Malaysians using May 13 since 1969

(48) 20 constituencies won by DAP would not get funds from the government to develop. Or these Chinese majority constituencies would be the last to be developed

(49) 100 constituencies (parliaments and states) had been racistly re-delineated so Chinese voters were diluted that Chinese candidates, particularly DAP candidates lost in election since 1970s

(50) Only 3 out of 12 human rights items are ratified by Malaysia government since 1960

(51) 0 - elimination of all forms of racial discrimination (UN Human Rights) is not ratified by Malaysia government since 1960s

(53) 50 cases each year whereby Chinese, especially Chinese youths being beaten up by malay youths in public places. We may check at police reports provided the police took the report, otherwise there will be no record

(54) 20 cases every year whereby Chinese drivers who accidentally knocked down malays were seriously assaulted or killed by malays

(55) 12% is what ASB/ASN got per annum while banks fixed deposit is only about 3.5% per annum

There are hundreds more racial discriminations in Malaysia to add to this list of “colossal” racism. It is hope that the victims of racism will write in to expose racism.

Malaysia government should publish statistics showing how much malays had benefited from the “special rights” of malays and at the same time tell the statistics of how much other minority races are being discriminated.

Hence, the responsibility lies in the Malaysia government itself to publish unadulterated statistics of racial discrimination.

If the Malaysia government hides the statistics above, then there must be some evil doings, immoral doings, shameful doings and sinful doings, like the Nazi, going on onto the non-malays of Malaysia.

Civilized nation, unlike evil Nazi, must publish statistics to show its treatment on its minority races. This is what Malaysia must publish……….

We are asking for the publication of the statistics showing how “implementation of special rights of malays” had inflicted colossal racial discrimination onto non-malays.

  1. Hi there. It seem like u are not satisfied with government. I’m Malay, and I know you Are talking about statistic. In fact, what is the major race in Malaysia? Who is the richest man in Malaysia? Is there anybody don’t have enough food in Malaysia? is there any bias judgment in Malaysia? Is there any Indian or Chinese killed by Malay because of race?
So let me answer that, the majority race in Malaysia is Malay, so, in most statistic, Malays will be the highest, but it doesn’t mean it is a bias. in fact the majority in pusat serenti is Malay too… the majority driver on the road now is Malay, majority people dead in percentage is Malay… yeah it simply because Malay is the majority. Majority is always right but it doesn’t mean the minority can’t speak… the minorities also get their own benefit. Your word smell of racism.. Please don’t provoke anything about race, as i ask before is there anyone get killed because of race in Malaysia? Past 14 may yes, now no. we live peacefully. Don’t kill the peace… there are none other government can handle multi race country like Malaysia. Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, they can’t be like Malaysia.
Yes Malays have their special right because they are majority. This is the way to keep the peace. If you are talking about fair and unfair, for your mention, when it is fair, it mean not fair and via versa. Confuse? let me explain it to you, let say you have two son, one in form one and the second one in university, monthly you just give 30 ringgit to your son in form one but you spend 300 ringgit a month for the one in university, is that fair??? Both suppose to get same amount of money. How come you give 10 times more for the one in the university??? Where is the justice???
You get it now I guess, both have their own needs. Same as race in Malaysia, Indian have their own need, Malay have their own too. So do Chinese. Malay people use to work in government sector, Indian as lawyer and doctor, Chinese in business, that how things work. For your mention, in medic, the majorities are Indian, is that racism? Government help Malays this kind of way, they help Indian in other way, and also they help Chinese. They always ask Malay to do that, do this, give that, give this, it simply because this majorities must work and do something in order to help the country. We can’t depend on the minority to support everything in the nation… both majority and minority must make move. in other word, government must do something to push the majority to work and contribute to the nation. Those majorities consist of lots of power and if they don’t do anything, government will face a major lost. That’s why its look likes only Malay that have the special threat. Actually everybody does. Have you ever go to school? If yes, government doesn’t leave you behind. everybody go to school, everybody eat rice, everybody have their religious places, everybody can vote, everybody can travel, everybody can get want they want, everybody can buy house, car, land, everything. what else you want dude? Have you ever thanks government that builds schools, hospitals, bus station for you. from before your first time come into this world, government already help you, until you big enough to go to school, until you go to secondary school until now…. why don’t we start thinking about ourselves, how much we have contribute to ourselves? Family? Religious? Race? Society? Nation?. I just giving my opinion, hope it benefit everybody, just care about the peace.

  4. First of all, are we (the non-malays, that is) really to believe that the government will abolish or tone down the New Economic Policy in the near future? We must be realistic, if you have the right to buy a property at a discount and have scholarships for your children, would you let go of these rights?

With Chinese population dwindling in Malaysia, what needs to be done depends on the Chinese themselves.

There is nothing wrong with the brain drain. In fact, we should encourage our children to move to Singapore, Taiwan, China etc, if we disagree with Malaysian government policies that are based on race and religion.

When it comes to the matter of the dwindling number of Chinese Malaysians, we should talk about quality, not quantity.

We should resolve why the Chinese-Malaysian population is reducing. Official figures have more than one million Chinese Malaysians emigrating over the past 25 years. Why did they emigrate? I am sure the government knows.

Straight A students can’t get scholarships or university places. Nothing new, it is been that way for the past 35 years. Nowadays, even enlightened malay Malaysians are speaking up on this injustice. The MCA and Gerakan? Busy making money from private colleges.

What is so great about having TAR College or Utar which took more than 35 years of begging? Why should it be so difficult to set up an independent university when we have scores of public ones?

While we push young talented people away, other countries notably Singapore, the US and Australia welcome them with open arms.

Is it logical that we drive away our young talented ones and then invite retired Mat Sallehs to live here and exploit our low-cost of living?

Singapore’s success in particular owes much to these ex-Malaysians or their descendants including Hon Sui Sen, Goh Keng Swee, Goh Chok Tong, just to name a few.

About 30 percent of top management in both Singapore’s government and corporate sector are ex-Malaysians. We export them so that Singapore can compete with, and then whack us.

Korea and Taiwan, both way behind us in the 70s and 80s are now way ahead. Thailand is breathing down our necks.

Sadly, there is just no integrity in the nation’s leadership.

  5. Chinese getting straight As are not allowed into universities. Not allowed civil service jobs. That is blatant discrimination.

Why do you support such discrimination?

Chinese Malaysians have built very successful businesses, hence they have the wealth that they have. This is not greed. They worked for what they now own.

Why do you envy what does not belong to you? Is this not greed?

It is quite untrue that business offers are conducted on the basis of race. Starting any business is very very hard work, but the malays did not have a hard working tradition to persevere. This is a cultural change the malays need in order to conduct businesses successfully.

Armed with this knowledge, do you still insist that Chinese Malaysians are greedy, and therefore it is right for malays to take what does not belong to them?

Your perception of business in Malaysia has got to be wrong.

Most goods and services can be conducted in open markets, and there is no particular reason to single out malays so that Chinese businessmen should swindle them. There are lots of swindlers in business so it is not just malays who get swindled.

Successful businessmen depend on providing real benefits to customers and partners so that it is worthwhile for them to do business again and again to both parties benefit. It is only when customers also get rich that businesses can grow.

The discrimination against Chinese, Indians and other peoples cannot be tolerated in the modern world. Countries that do this will face long-term decline.

Hard working people are not greedy as you accuse them. They are hard working because they have a mission in life to prosper, to give offspring a good chance in life to live to the full, to contribute their talents to the betterment of society……….

    This is not greed.

Whereas, envy of others wealth and taking what they have not worked for is greed.

I would put is stronger. It is robbery and corruption. You talk like a Mafia extortionist when you said that worse could happen to the Chinese, so be thankful because there are more malays than Chinese, and therefore they can take even more from the Chinese if they want to.

You have to be joking to believe that your greed and prejudices are the wonderful things about Malaysia. Well, may be you do.

Malaysia as describe it is a country based on racism, lack of a conscience, and greed (taking from hard working foreigners).

Meritocracy is denounced. Robbing the wealthy is promoted.

How can there be a good future for such a country?

Looking from outside of Malaysia, it is easy to see that the malay-controlled government is enforcing a wealth-robbing programme from the Chinese who earned their wealth through hard work.

By barring bright well qualified Chinese Malaysians from entering Malaysian universities, Malaysia is pursuing a discriminatory policy based on race.

This is not tolerated in civilised countries. It is a policy that gives Malaysia a very bad reputation and deprives itself of its most talented.

It is a policy which tells the malays that robbing from the rich is not greed because being rich, being educated is the same as being greedy.

This is moral corruption and self contradiction which Malaysia will pay back a very heavy price.

  6. Imagine our prime minister lecturing on the real facts of peace and unity in Malaysia.

“We (government) do not practise meritocracy and social fairness. We practise discrimination and racism in our education system, housing allocation and discount, jobs, university entry. We blackmail and extort non-bumis through Approved Permits and shares equity. We dish out handouts to bumis, etc. That is how we achieve peace and unity in Malaysia.”

The only reason why there is peace and unity is because the non-bumis are tolerant, progressive, peace, moderate, magnanimous and loving, despite the racism, keris wielding and discriminatory policies.

If the future leader is bollocks then the future of this country is also bollocks.

The education system in this country from top to bottom is going from bad to worst, we are producing robots, incompetent, hapless, crony and brainwashed leaders.

Going by that, the track record of the Umno government is nothing less than embarrassing and shameful.

While the rich and famous in the Umno coalition is feasting off the richness of the land christened Malaysia, thousands more are languishing in poverty, sickness and adverse social circumstances.

I care for my fellow citizens regardless of race and religion and there is nothing more I wish to see that for them to be able to lead a decent life through diligence and honesty. But such values are of no worth in a corrupted and racist system like the Umno government’s.

The current debate is not about race, religion or political ideology. It is about good values or rather, the lack of them in the current Umno politicians.

One must not mistake hatred against racism with hatred against race. The former is admirable, and the latter is deplorable.

From the comments of you malay, I can conclude that he is either delirious and confused or he is simply a typical Umno politician - colored-vision, conceited and paranoid.

Your comments clearly show your insecurity as well as your inferiority complex. Unfortunately, your comments suggest that your views represent all the malays.

It also shows that you, as representing the malays, concede that you are not prepared and will never be prepared, even in the future, to meet with competition. You suggest that you need to be wrapped in cotton wool for all time.

You may be the ketuanan of Malaysia but what kind of Malaysia will that be by then if you continue with your tunnel vision and refuse to meet and compete with the rest of the world.

The world does not owe you a favour and will not wait for you. A big problem is that you expect the world and everyone to owe you a living. Get real the world owes you nothing!

You will be in a very small country and a small world of your own. You may be the ketuanan of such a country which may be weaker than a banana republic in time.

Under those circumstance, it may not be important whether you are the ketuanan of such a country which is not third rate but fourth rate, and which may be open to be taken by a stronger force. By then you will be too weak and friendless to defend yourself.

Please don’t think that Malaysia belongs to one particular race, you are insulting yourself, and your race, don’t ever forget that some key leaders in top government are with mixed blood, not pure malays……….please know your mission as a Malaysian, to live united with the other races and fight independently with the globalised world.

Don’t be narrow-minded anymore, do correct thing to make things right.

The “bumiputera” stole the land from Orang Asli. By right all of Malaysia should belong to them. If recall history as the current generation of malays came over from Sumatra, Jawa, and the island around.

If your thinking remains the same - please go back to Indonesia where you can proudly call yourself bumis there.

Comment by the model racist nation — February 21, 2006 @ 5:55 am

  7. Well, I worked in a few different countries and I have met some transplanted or former Malaysians (Chinese or Indian and even mixed blood). Almost all of them narrated the same treatment they received while they were in Malaysia, when I asked them why they wanted to leave the beautiful country Malaysia.

    I have talked to an automotive engineer in Germany (ex-Malaysian married to a German); I met a mining engineer formerly from Ipoh who now lives in Canada; I met a petroleum engineer in Australia who is specialized in fracture stimulation (whatever that is);

I met a spacecraft engineer in Houston who has nothing good to say about Malaysia……….many more people with great talents and expertise who have given up Malaysian citizenships……….most interesting was a malay women who married to an American geologist……….she did not repay her RM90000 Mara loan and do not want to return to Malaysia.

So now I am in Malaysia for a year and I realized what those people told me about. Most of what they said I can now sympathies and understand the situation.

They never ever regret the choice make to give up Malaysian citizenships. Being a non-malay is a second or third class citizen in this country.

My job here is not to change the political situation……….I am just saying what I come across……….

  8. Migration and emigration of human beings is a pre-requisite of human progress and development. Without migration, human beings would be doomed to an existence worse than that of animals. Even animals migrate to seek a better habitat.

Patriotism is not a one-way thing, it is a two-way commitment. If one finds that one’s patriotism and loyalty is not reciprocated as having to live with a corrupt government, discriminatory policies, inhumane and repressive laws etc, one has a right to review one’s patriotism and commitment if one so chooses.

Why would people stay if their talents are not recognised in their own country and they do not have the opportunities to develop their potential? Why remain when they can have these opportunities in another country?

Indeed, it is very fortunate that we all live in this day and age of globalisation where we are free to live and work anywhere in the world as long as we have the skills and talent.

There is much less reason now to put up with bad governments, or corrupt, oppressive regimes and racist, anywhere in the world.

Of course the grass is never greener on the other side. You still need the same energy, enterprise and sometimes luck to make it. But there is no doubt in my mind and in those who have worked here and overseas - the playing field is more level abroad.

Whilst, I may add that most lower middle-class Malaysian citizens and professionals are the main bulk of immigrants to countries abroad. They need to get settled first and have a few contacts to start life anew.

To expect them to be millionaires in businesses will take a generation or more and we are beginning to see that now. If they had not emigrated, they would have been hard pressed to send their children abroad and everybody knows the quota system for universities, jobs, job promotions and opportunities back home.

In Canada, we experience the best there is in life. Every citizen has equal rights. They have done well in every aspect of life.

In the US, anyone whether black, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Mexican etc, has the right to run for president. There are no restrictions, one only needs to secure the votes.

Nobody should operate under the assumption that migration is a bed of sweet, smelling roses. Roses have thorns.

Certainly, migration is not a dirty word. In fact, migration is the reason for this multiethnic paradise I call home today. The question is, can Malaysia retain her talents?

We are simply losing good people to the more developed countries, and this problem is also faced by other countries such as India and China.

Singapore has been absorbing our talents regardless of the medium of instruction they have been taught in. Perhaps the biggest slap on our face is the fact that thousands and thousands of Malaysians have been recruited to bloom in the Lion City’s workforce, while our own industry leaders have done nothing to help the government keep these investments from going abroad.

Many people leave the country for a variety of reasons. Some leave for economic reasons, some for better education, some over concerns for the climate of democracy in their home country. There is no reason to deride any migrant for their choices in life. Every human being is entitled to the right of social, physical and geographical mobility - you seek your place on earth and call it home.

So leave if you must, go while you can, but don’t give up on the march.

That is a worthy sacrifice that requires courage.

Congratulations to those who have found a better future in life.

  9. Read it all.

In Mahathir’s Malaysia, over 40% of the population lives under Constitutionally mandated and perpetual state sanctioned racism. It is verging on illegality to even bring up the subject - even in parliament.

Non-bumis live under widespread and considerable electoral, educational, economic and even religious restrictions and also have to live with the risk of racially motivated stirring from malay politicians who could put one nation to shame. And don’t ask about illegal aliens, they are safely locked up in detention centres.

Unsurprisingly, some malay policies have played upon resultant fears of racial tensions and the difficulties non-bumis face in creating their own political voice to shore up a captive vote in the ethnic electorate.

Starting up a company or even purchasing land and property is harder and more expensive for non-bumis. The only way to alleviate their permanent designation as a second-class citizen is to convert to Islam and thus enjoy partial legal acceptance as a bumis.

This Malaysia, a land where racism is used to justify racism, is Mahathir’s creation and if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black, then I need a new palette.

Perhaps you may have heard of the axiom making its rounds among the Malaysian bloggers:

“If it is a malay issue, it is a national issue. If it is an Indian issue, it is not an issue. If it is a Chinese issue, it is a racial issue.”

That is the problem with Malaysia. The Chinese and Indians are made to feel as if Malaysia is for the malays, and not for the citizens of Malaysia. Even the textbooks are often written as if addressing the malays instead of Malaysians, with references to Islam and other malay cultural aspects.

Just look at Singapore. In spite of their being a multiracial society completely lacking in national resources, they are now a developed country. Why?

Because the people there are united. There is no presumption that the average citizen is a Chinese or any serious programme giving a particular race special rights.

The presumption that greed, dishonesty, and betrayal are innate qualities of a Chinese is simply as abhorrent as the presumption by some Chinese that malays smell bad, are lazy, and are extremely religious to the point of martyrdom. Such stereotyping accomplishes nothing.

If Chinese kids won’t die for Malaysia, we should not jump to the conclusion that Chinese cannot be trusted. Instead, we should consider it equally among other possibilities, such as the government’s policies creating a feeling of unfair treatment despite the premise that we are all equal as citizens of Malaysia.

We know what the original intentions of the malay special privileges provision in the Merdeka Constitution were, but to maintain that it is a carte blanche for all manner of discrimination based on the bumi/non-bumi divide is certainly straining credibility.

Now that the commanding heights of the Malaysian economy have fallen into the hands of malay capitalists 48 years after independence, is it wrong to appeal for a new consensus based on social sector and need instead of race?

From the above, it is clear that the question of the constitutionality of the quota system as it has been practised since 1971 especially in totally bumi institutions has never been tested.

Because the government imposes racial quota in education and government departments, therefore Singapore and other countries take fortune at the tide. For years, there has been brain drain to our neighbour.

I called my newfound friend earlier who works in Singapore. Somehow, the conversation ended up on Malaysians holding top positions in Singapore.

Well, I have a good friend who is currently working with a top-notch investment company in Singapore. When my new friend found out, immediately said, “No wonder that Pak Lah person was mentioning about the brain drain in Malaysia!”

Well, I know a lot of doctors and scientists are working overseas. A number of my school alumni are actually working overseas and not in Malaysia. Some are doing well in Boston, London, to name a few. It is even funnier to hear stories of some of my school alumni to accidentally meet each other when they are overseas. Yes, my school is guilty for contributing to the brain drain……….

Closer to home, I wonder if Pak Lah knows about our own Malaysian companies that are also contributing to the brain drain. No name mentioned, but I know of one company, due to the change in business process has forced a number of the disgruntled staff to leave the company.

The worse thing, these staff left and joined the competitors that are not Malaysian owned. And even worse, some staff actually decided to leave Malaysia and work at greener pastures.

They could have stayed in Malaysia, but no company in Malaysia could afford to pay the expected salary due to the staff being former scholars and studied overseas during the economic crisis.

Sad really. Now wonder why Pak Lah has an uphill task.

Clearly, there has always been movement of highly skilled people in and out of a country. If there is brain drain from a particular country, it can scarcely develop. On the other hand, if it can keep its talents and successfully attract its skilled citizens to return as well as foreign talents to come, it will prosper.

  10. Azyzy…I just saw your comment, and couldn’t believe that you are that delusional. I’ve grown up as a non-Malay Malaysian citizen. You claim you should have rights just because you’re Malay?? I too was born in Malaysia. I have grown up in Malaysia, just as you have. But being non-Malay means that I don’t have benefits that you have, which is completely unfair. Not to cast aspersions upon your intelligence, but I highly doubt that you’re smarter than me, or more hardworking than me. So why then should you receive these benefits, and not me?

I have Chinese friends receiving straight A’s that cannot get into colleges and universities, while sub-standard Malay students with C’s are being admitted to these same institutions. It is a disgrace.

This cycle of bumi-favouritism should be broken. It is only spawning racial dissension that we will reap the results of in the future.

  11. My comment that the author of List Discrimination In Malaysia still a racist . What i have found here is he only higlighted the problem that been facing by chinese community and he did not express the problems that facing by indians community .
This title supposed to be List Of Chinese Discrimination In Malaysia
The author should know that most of indian community realised what the Goverment have done to them is unforgiven . If we still depending on Goverment we wont be in top position in overseas for example 78% in NASA is Indians , We ( indian community ) have been proven our intelligence around the world but not in Malaysia . So what we have do just migrate or use Malaysia as a investment base .
Actually we ( non malays ) should know that Goverment will never change their policies unless there is a protest , here we dont do that …. tats the problem anything the goverment says we just simply raise the Barisan Falg . It will be good idea if we migrate , like one say in English ,” Where Is A Will There Is A Way ”
But always remember the Will for non Malays is not in Malaysia .

  12. i got linked to your site by a spammer (i think). but i think the special priveleges should be removed. they were only supposed to be there (as agreed by other parties) that the malays would receive the special priveleges for a set number of years. this set number of years is OVER!

just because malays are the majority doesnt mean that the minorities should be oppressed. however my cousin agrees with the privelege because she doesnt know how else malays are going to push themselves up the ladder. of course there are some good people from that ladder - i have met a few awesome and smart malays… the weird thing though is that they all went to chinese schools. :S im not sure if thats actually related, but i thought that was kinda weird.

if azyzy is an example of the malay mindset, then there needs to be a lot of education for the malays in terms of changing their minds. actually, speaking of mindset, on a travel forum someone started up a topic about whether malaysia could be considered a 1st or 2nd world country. most of the people agreed 2nd and one of the people posted that the only way malaysia would get up to 1st world country status is if the mindset were changed. azyzy has just proved that person’s point.

  14. You all young generations do not know the sacrifice we’ve gone through in the years of the british. Learn history!!! Malaysia is a Malay land… It was Tanah Melayu… The Malays back then agreed upon ‘Malaysia’ when we finally agreed to ’share’ our land. But the immigrants (non-malays) that time was different. Not like most of you today. Not thankful!!

Furthermore, we must abolish sekolah jenis kebangsaan… apa jenis2?! There should have been only sekolah kebangsaan where all of us united bawah satu bumbung!! Then we can understand each other more!! and speak in BM!!! i’ve been to a market and met this one young chinese lady who cudnt speak BM at all.. you call that Malaysian?!?! Memalukan!!!

You should know that Malaysia is our only and sole land. In fact, this is a free country. The statistics up there are just numbers. Why is it like that? Because most non-malays refuse to work in GLCs and Gov. Low Salary!!! APPLY LAAA… apa bising2… YOU can change the statistics!! DOn’t be mad at something you don’t know much about!!

Please don’t spark racism anymore here… the host of this site is racist… its obvious… Let us mind our own business and live in harmony!!! Move our mind towards the World Cup, which is coming these few days!! and THINK ABT HOW WE CAN IMPROVE OUR NATIONAL TEAM!!

  16. The malay pig have drawn up a plan to displace all non-malays. They are discriminating against all non-malays. More and more non-malays are leaving.

You know why he/she need to leave……….? It is all because of those idiots who voted for the pig government to chase those talents out of this country.

    This scenario would stay.

They would prefer to remain backward, so long as they are in control over you and me. I think they enjoy seeing non-malays ‘begging’ all the time.

Even though they are left far behind Korea, Taiwan and now Thailand is coming up strong. To them these are not competitors. In their narrow mind, the ‘enemies’ are local non-malays. Must suppress, by all means.

All malay pig are programmed to be promoted much faster ahead of non-malays the moment they join University Malaya. Soon University Malaya will be dominated by malay pig and the ranking will slip further.

Most of the malay pig in Malaysia cannot think clearly, their thinking and mind are clouded by such things as comfort zone, frog-in-a-well syndrome, ignorance, racial pride, stubbornness, etc.

  17. According to a recent study through secret agency, Nihon himitsu oruganitsum bureau, shows that malays were descended from the hybrid between boar/hog and baboon, hence explains why they look like baboon and they don’t eat pork.

Our latest DNA analysis confirmed the fact.

The Japanese, Europeans etc, all eat pork, so does that mean they are all dirty and only the Arabs and malays are clean?

These malays have no brains to think properly.

The secret agency study also finds that Muslims are more violent, lazy, cunning, and barbaric due to the lack of pork in their meals and the wrong doctrine.

They had been misled by Quran for generations which was copied and twisted by Muhammad from Holy Bible just to control his followers so that they don’t harm their same species/ancestor (the hybrid between boar/hog and baboon).

  18. This malay pig race is so stupid, that they’d never amount to anything in this world.

This message board has been here for awhile, and if anyone goes back, there is no one message, that talks good about this stupid malay pig race, because everybody knows how stupid, and hateful this malay pig race is all about.

The malay pig will crumble from internal weaknesses and disappear in era of globalization……….no need for others to colonize them.

Because malay pig like to be parasites and feed on the Chinese’s income tax!

Wait until the malay pig population increase to 90% in Malaysia, the same ratio as in Indonesia, then you will know the meaning of poor, as there will be too many malay pig to subsidize.

    Then the economy collapse.

The malay pig are actually digging their own grave and they are trying to dig a deeper and bigger one now……….

But all of them I have to see are being manipulated by certain top malay politicians so they will support them……..

There show that the general malay pig are quite stupid and can’t think outside the box……….

Only 1% of the malay pig can make it and they are the exception. If malay pig are not stupid, what are they?

If all malay pig jump into sea and all die!

This world will become very very beautiful.

Without malay pig in Malaysia -Malaysia country will become same as Singapore or Taiwan.

Where malay pig came from? Indonesia? Arab? What happened to our Orang Asli? They are the original settlers here, they should be the true real bumis. Not the babiputras we have here.

A genetically flawed race (babiputras) cannot be fixed by politically.

    What have we got now?

Brain drain, economic disparity getting wider, poor education system, racial segregation, widespread corruption, inefficiency and uncompetitive on the government departments and others.

Sad. Sad. Sad. The question asked by many of my fellow Chinese is this - Why can’t you just tell the malay pig to adopt Chinese culture which is superior?

You know something - once outside the perimeters of Malaysia, these malay pig are so small in value even a dog has more value than them!

Everything in Malaysia is a joke when it comes to the malay pig. They are laughed at by everyone in this world for being incompetent, lazy, useless morons.

If you malay pig don’t like Malaysia here, then go back to Sumatra, Jawa, or wherever your ancestors came from and give this land back to its rightful master, the Orang Asli!

From research, this peninsular was part of the Siamese empire way before these malay pig from Indonesia invaded it.

I’m agree that orang asli was the real bumi but not the malay. Malay claim themself the bumi just sound like robbery.

I was a buddhist, I got study about Hindu, Krisna, Bibble and Quran over this few years, but I seriously doubt that is the Quran correct? Why sucide bomber are almost always Muslim? What make them kill inocent people and strongly belive that he/she will go heaven? not in any other religion.

Nowaday, I understand one fact, if u want to make good friend with malay, the best and the simple, usefull way is talk Quran and Islam with them, criticise other races eg American, or other religion with them, they love u like anything. sorry to said, I know is not polite and not moral to do, but it was my real experiences. It make me remember one incidence, one of my patient, a old malay female, telling me that Tsunami was the punishment of Allah to the white people, I wonder and ask why, she said because the White dominated the world and Allah unhappy… hhmm…. sound crazy, if i not mistake, most sacrifier was muslim right ? and Tsunami landed in muslim countries anyways. ofcause I cant argue with her, it might make her blood presure gone up and kill her, and I become murder… oohh god, no way..

My family, my girlfriend very much encourge me to migrate over sea, like Australia, US, UK, but just .. I cant left without my friends, and our ‘comrade’ indian… I’m very depress about that, If god offer me the power, I would move all non-muslim out of malaysia. And, one friend told me that, sound crazy and nonsense, but fun to think of, .. all non-muslim over the world must spend all the money to US gorvorment, let the American build a nice city in moon, then we peacefully send all muslim to moon and let them be, they can fight, kill, eat each other, boom here and there, and it was nothing to do with us, non-muslim in the peacefull earth. .. haha ,, ;)

You are looking from your own perspective. Let me tell you about my own perspective. I am Malay. I get my scholarship because of my Malay status. Do i proud of my Malay status? Nope. Now because of this scholarship, i have to work to Malaysian GLC which is they put me to the position that not relevent to my qualification. If i go to some non-Malaysian GLC, I believe they will pay me more… I am waiting time to time ,looking for better offer outside there.Do you think all Malay will stay at Petronas because of the benefit they get?? Did you heard that people at TM could not join Alcatel,Ericsson or other telecommunication equipment because TM too protective to their expert especially in mobile. But they pay very low salary to us!! I know , this bumiputra status will be disappear . I will make a preparation for my sibling for they future. Dear all reader. The time will come. just wait.

Please refer to > comment. Brain drain. This is what happen to me and some of my colleges at my working place. Some of my friend go to profesional arena even oversea like some of non-Malay because we as Malay also have our own target. Some of us..Believe me some Malay may jeoleus to you guy because if you want to migrate to US,Australia, all you have to do is go. But for us, this comfort zone is a burden to me.I want to go profesional arena and get luxury pay and travel Europe. But i have my family, brother to concern. I look some of non-Malay guy they dont care about their family.brother sister education because they father already prepare some money. But for me?? my brother did not get any scholar ship.So who need to pay? Wasn’t mee??? . Dont blame us because of Tunku Abdul Rahman or Tan Cheng Lok.

This is good a issue. If you dont like Malaysia, migrate. You could open your mouth, but please understand what will you get. I respect to person who speak because of what they believe. I am Malay i will protect my Malay but at the same time i will try to educate Malay too. But what i get when i try to educate my Malaymate?? They dont like me. I am sad. So to all Malay. Prepare you self and your sibling for future. It become tough in future.

  26. Yes, a lot of non-malays in Malaysia are leaving this country. But what the hell, they (malay pig) don’t care. They are happy that we leave.

I do agree with you of those you mentioned, our country is stepping backward, we are loosing in all aspects and yet overdue and retard ministers are still available on shelf. The ministers think that they are the only ones capable and qualified to be there and not replaceable, otherwise the country could collapse.

Looking at Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq likes looking at this country future. The well-connected malays are getting richer. This government is spoon-feeding the malays at this nation expense. I am sick of this country too.

My advise is let them rot in their own stew.

The Barisan government has achieved 0% in reversing the trend of racism.

While South Africa has disbanded racism through the government’s initiative after the global news onslaught, our Malaysia government leaders are propagating RACISM and FACISM in every way.

In term of racism, we are the most uncivilised country in the world. Look into our neighbouring countries of Asia, they are advancing economically on a straight forward objectives, for their citizens.

Whereas, we are moving in deviationist path, widely off the international economic theory, for the sole objective of propelling the well-being of a supreme race.

Mahathir era is over, here we have Badawi. Is he changing the trend? Not a single sign of it. How about the future under Nazib?

Sad, sad. They have more camouflage in readiness.

We have double standards everywhere. One for the Umno and one for the non-Umno, I weep for the fools who think that their minister is fighting for their right. With every RM1 they give to you, they are taking RM100 away from your kids.

We have a bunch of criminals in the parliament, and guess who is the head?

Power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely - given the chance, should he not watch himself, any politician would abandon his mission for money and status.

The politicians screw us all up, play up the racial card to protect themselves so that they can plunder the nation and put the blame on the people.

Being a graduate, I have been advised time and time again by my elders, that if it were possible, attain a job oversea (currently in Australia). And don’t come back. Except for holiday and the food.

My honest advise to my fellow countryman, no matter what race you are, save enough money and emigrate. You are doing yourself and your future generation a big favour.

Goodbye Malaysia. I guess there is no longer hope for a better country as long as it is a Muslim country and is governed by the ever corrupted malay pig system. They suck big time.

  27. My opinion on this thing.

It’s frightening to find out about such things that are happening in our country. Maybe now we won’t suffer, but our future generations will. All this discrimination does
happen, slowly and silently, we are being blinded from the truth.

I am not a racist. I have friends of all races. What worries me is the government’s recent actions, concerning religious issues. Remember the case of Moorthi’s burial? Or the law that says that if one parent is a Muslim in a case of a divorce, he or she will get full child custody.

Because of the privelages anyone will receive as a Muslim, it has put members of the other religions in jeopardy. Where do we stand? A Muslim/Malay automatically becomes a Bumiputera. You then find the Indian Muslims requesting for the Bumiputera status. Soon, the Chinese Muslims will be asking for the status. Where does this put those who chose to remain in their own religions? And besides, the real bumiputeras in Malaysia are the orang asli…

    Open your eyes..

  33. Personally, I think all this situation created in malaysia (i.e. discrimination), the government has the responsibity to ractify it and make it everyone feel like bangsa malaysia. My understanding is so long as there is discrimination against one party, there will never be trust among each other. Let take for an example, imagine a person work so hard each day to support his family, and at the end of the day, he/she realize that the tax paying to the government will fully used to subsized and assist another party systematically. This systematical act includes setting up and pumping $ to all the institution (ie. PNB, Kazanah, Lembaga tentera, …etc) and which in turn invested in GLC or buying up non-bumi company and later covert it to a bumi company, well, the list goes on .. such as discrimination on education scholarship to other race and not to mention business contract.

Given that the economic share cake has now been totally controlled by the malay (more than 50%) and couple with all those systematic discrimination action taken by the government, i wonder how the unity of bangsa malaysia is going to exist.

In fact, my personal view is all has to do with the malay itself, i find it malay is never satisfied and very disgruntled, and with disgruntled behavior that is built in subconciously, no wonder all the malay employee work in the government institution or any GLC company will systematically bias when comes to approving some decision that involve “Malay” and “non-bumi”, for example, we always see our leader talks about racial harmony and education scholarship should based on merit and fair.however, little did he realize (I hope) that when come to execution of his talking is not actually implemented by the middle management people in those institution.

In nutshell, I hope (even though i think it’s impossible) our malay friend out there (can be a minister or regular citizen) take away their disgruntled behavior in view of the fact that you all has control more than 50% of the economy activity.

A general truth is high dependency behavior will not make you growth!!

  34. My Dear Beloved People,

After received a shocking story of Malaysia Sunway Pyramid Pizza Hut special privilege for Malay (exempted from 5% Government tax and 10% service charge), my heart was upset indeed even though there is no concrete proof to validate email originator’s claim.

A trip to local wet market relieved my heart because at here, I do not see obvious Racial Discrimination. All races are given equal business opportunity and customer do not buy from hawker same as their race only.

Later, a visit to a different fast food restaurant nearby, Kentucky Fried Chicken revealed that there is not even a single Chinese or Indian worker. Supervisor informed me there was one Chinese and Indian worker but they worked for 1 or 2 days and left. Tak boleh tahan kerja cuci (cannot tolerate washing job) for the restaurant especially closing time (close shop).

I thanked God today because He has woke me up from my foolishness. Now it is my duty to wake you all up if you are still sleeping.
Do you know which race in Malaysia is the most foolish?

My conclusion is we ourselves, Chinese. My reasons are:

    1. We think we are smart and the Malay is foolish.
    2. We are like a frog in a pot of water, someone started to put slow fire to boil it and yet it did not aware but continue to swim until water was hot enough to kill it.
In reality we are not aware Racial Discrimination has widely spread to private sector also.
    3. We fool ourselves without investigation and deep thought when we see only one race in a normal business organization by saying Chinese do not like to work there, they want more professional career.
    4. We are like a Circus Elephant which was brought up from young. When it was young, tight to a small chain but cannot run away with his full strength. When he has grown big, a small chain will do the same trick because his mind set is “I cannot do it”.
In reality, we always say our country is like this, we cannot change the way Racial Discrimination works.

As for me, Racial Discrimination came from the Evil one and if I follow strictly Rukun Negara 1st principle “Belief In God”, God will help us to defeat the Devil and bring Justice to all people, “Keadilan Untuk Semua”.

Yes, I can make a change!!! From now onward, as much as possible, I will not support any body or organization that worship Racial Discrimination. I will start this from Petrol Station and Fast Food Restaurant. I do not have to wait until General Election to decide what type of government I want.

And as for you, my beloved people, you have to decide today whether you want to accept, reject or ignore my invitation to make a change in our Country for the better future of our children and their next generation.

May God’s wisdom be with you all.

    Thanks and Regards.
One who truly believe in God.

  35. Hi Big Hope,

I think it’s extremely sad that you post this kinda remark on your own people (I wonder whether you are real chinese or disguised one). Anyhow, don’t be so naive, i hope u can read more newspaper and open up your eyes to see things more clearly. Quite clearly you have no idea what’s going on in this country in term of the policy that have been implemented by our government.

Did u realized that your income that you earned is being divert to systematically assist the already affluent malay community. I recently bought a condo at PJ, and one of the buyer next to me is a Malay, and was driving a brand new honda accord, and during conversation between him and his family that they can be granted a discount of 10%. This is a real discrimination and obvioiusly the government would have been taking to the court if this happen in the States (unfortunately our legal system is also not discrimination entity).

Did u realize that nowadays that most of the people buying the branded staffs in Kuala Lumpur is dominated by Malay, just take a scroll one day to KLCC and ask the branded shop personal about the majority of their community customer, you will be surprised. Further, what really upset is the education scholorship not granted to other races.

BIG HOPE, i am fervant believer of GOD, and my church always pray for Malaysia. Do me a favor, wake up yourself, or if you are not bumiputera, stop disguising yourself in this forum.

I guess when TAR lead the nego for Tanah Melayu’s independence back then those who where not Melayu should be sent to where they came from and let Tanah Melayu to have it’s people as during Kesultanan Melayu Melaka. If that had been the case, this page would not have existed to demonstrate such hatreds.

  38. You said Malays R from Indonesia? Bullshit…

I’m Kelantanese.. And it’s proven recently that we (Kelantanese Malays) R the original people of Semenanjung/Tanah Melayu… genetically proven by HUSM scientists… from the most recent research for RMK-9.

Kelantanese (Vietnamese) Original People Of Malaysia - Academics
Academics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in George Town, Penang (Pulau Pinang) believe the Kelantanese Malays [in other words, the Vietnamese or Champa people] are the original people of Malaysia.

One of the academics Dr Zafarina Zainudin told Malaysian daily Utusan Malaysia recently that they discovered this through mitochondrial DNA research.

The indigenous peoples of Malaysia otherwise known as Malays hail from the same region as the Chinese and that is the Tibetan highlands [otherwise known as the Himalayan Mountains].

That’s the place where China’s mighty Yangzi and Huang Rivers begin, and where India’s mighty Ganges and Indus Rivers also begin.

The Vietnamese and Kelantanese are one. The former are the inhabitants of Indochina while the latter are the inhabitants of Kelantan in Peninsular Malaysia [and Patani which is now occupied by Thailand].

The Vietnamese of the Champa region in southern Vietnam speak the same language as the Kelantanese.

The Cambodians (Khmers) are also from the Vietnamese.

Likewise with the Myanmar (Burmese) or Tibetans, who are the root of the Dusun (Kadazan) people of Sabah in East Malaysia.

The Dusun themselves gave rise to their fellow Sabahan aborigines the Bajau, Murut and Kelabit (they are all a mixture of Sarawakian Melanau and Bidayuh with Dusun). The Bajau in turn produced the indigenous people of the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and the American continents.

The Vietnamese [Kelantanese] gave rise to the Penan and Bidayuh of Sarawak, too.

The Penan, a nomadic tribe, gave rise to the Melanau who dominate Sarawak’s politics and are the ancestors of the Javanese [and Balinese and Malagasy], while the Bidayuh gave rise to the seafaring Bugis of Sulawesi and the Pacific.

The Ibans, who are the largest aboriginal tribe in Sarawak, gave rise to the Siamese or Thais, to the Kedayans (or Bruneians) and to the Temuans of Peninsular Malaysia’s central state Selangor.

The Temuans are the ancestors of the official Malays, the community which forms the bulk of Malaysia’s population and which speaks the language called Malaysian in Malaysia and Indonesian in Indonesia.

The Kedayans in Peninsular Malaysia are found in Johor and are also called the Seletars.

They and the Temuans intermarried to produce the Kanak and Jakun tribes.

The former gave rise to the Kedahans, who in turn gave rise to the Batak [Toba], Aceh and Lampung tribes of Sumatra.

The latter gave rise to the Minangkabaus or Negeri Sembilanes

You know who wrote this article? Chinese juga maa… kat Chua’s Corner.

So we are the 1st in this land… And Kelantanese is 1 of the ethnic MALAY! (MALAYO-POLYNESIAN STOCK)

  39. I would like to make comment on the author “Learn from history”, i think if we (non-bumis) were not here at the first place, i doubt malaysia will not able to develop simply because there will not be any new economy development policy carried out because there is no specific group (i.e. scapegoat) to blame for for the so-called dilemma of Melayu, which has be crying since the day of independence of malaysia till today.
Do you realize the fact that the systematic policy being carry out by the government in this country is pratically like putting the gold on a big plate and knee down and two hands submit to you? and look around in today newspaper or your neighborhood, they are many, and many of educated, and well off malay family. And one find it hard to understand why there are still strong disgruntle sense of feeling exhibit (subconsciously) among the bumis? I don’t understand why majority of malays community is so disgruntle of their situation
I personally think the mentality of the malays, perhaps, has to change. The strong “M” word or “B” word of mentality has to change. The thinking of that “THIS IS A TANAH MELAYU” should be replaced by “Tanah malaysia”. A land where everyone can stay together and take responsibility of themselve of not blaming other groups or discriminating other groups because of one group not doing well (which is not reality in our case). I have to remind u again that non-bumis, like the bumis, also strive to make a living.. “you earn what you sow”, worst still, the macro business and social environment is not on our advantage (as we all know that non-bumis has been systematically being discriminated from education opportunity, difficulty access to business loan (SME), non-bumis’s small business being a target of tax personal, denied of access to government contract, applying for any business and social activity liscense. All these facts lie down to the fact of the strong sense of “THIS IS TANAH MELAYU” or “BEING RIP-OFF BY THOSE OUTSIDERS” internal or subscious feeling among majority of the Malay community. The sad thing is this group of majority community consists of all level of people which include high education or business community. I don’t understand why majority of Malay community don’t see it from this angle. It’s a waste of money to send batch of batch of bumis student to oversea (FYI by using non-bumis tax payer money) just to find out the mentality still like this.

  40. This race stereotyping is actually the work of the present day government, headed by the Umno racist using race and religion as a tool to stay in power.

The native of this land a.k.a. son of the soil are the Orang Asli (Dayak, Jakun, Sakai, etc) in Peninsula and the natives (Dusun, Iban, Kadazan, etc) of Borneo. Not you malays arrogant pieces of shit!

Before the arrival of Islam into Malaya, the different races live in harmony without questioning religion or race. They may be cultural different but they accepted each other.

After independence, race was used by the Umno racist, and then formulated the NEP, which divided everyone. The Umno fascist use Islam in schools, universities and workplaces to segregate, and in the name of fighting PAS.

The modus operandi of Umno has always be, divide and rule, and the devil is in the details and implementation of the religious department.

Umno is king creating diversion when they are cornered, use race and religion. Race and religion is the most explosive issues and they have used it successfully since independence.

All this is done to perpetuate their hold on political power. It is for Umno benefits to play the race card, because this is the only way to ensure their hold on to political power. And 50 long years have proven them right. The race card works well and works every time!

They have succeeded in keeping the races apart socially, and fanned animosity amongst the races with their discriminatory and racist politics.

All give politically reasoning - well here goes a correct one - malay is lazy because of Islam.

How can one pray 5 times and yet be expected to be productive? Wait for the foreigners to come and set up their factory and having to cater for Islam needs!

If malays embrace other religion then there is hope for Malaysia - otherwise your hope is in the existence of Umno terrorist liars……….don’t count on them being there forever - we are factoring in Umno racist absence in our business plan!

The problem with malays is that they forget too easily. It was the Chinese, Indians and Malays who fought for the independence.

The NEP was design to help malays catch up with the Chinese and the Indians. Now looks like after 40 years, the malays are still behind and very proud of it.

Still want to receive handouts from the government! Still afraid to fight it out on fair ground with the Chinese, Indians and other races! Fearful is the malay race!

Without the government subsidies and support - I don’t know how many malay businesses will still stand? So when can we see some towering malays and who dare to refuse government help and still succeed?

Grabbing other people success and call it your own success is not success but a disgrace!

Their laziness caused the nation’s economy to slump and resources are wasted. They take 5 days to complete a day work. Malays always think that they are helping the other races when they are lazy. For God sake, please wake up! You are doing it for your own, not for anybody!

Majority of the nation need to be educated again. On the meaning of Malaysia.

  41. Malaysia is a corrupt and racist country and that is the reason we have this malay dilemma.

This malay dilemma exists because of one person, that is, the leader of that race. If the leader is corrupt and racist, we will have all sort of dilemmas - the Barisan dilemma, the Chinese dilemma, the Indian dilemma, the Malay dilemma, the NEP dilemma, the Proton dilemma, the Scenic Bridge dilemma, etc. The list is dilemmatic and is endless……….

Yes, this corrupt racist is dilemmatic but yet was at the helm steering Malaysia into dilemmatic waters, that is why Bolehland is having all sorts of dilemmas in Malaysia, not only the malay dilemma!

The definition of a system is defined as several components linked together so that when an input is applied to the system, the desired output is attained! It is up to individual to choose any one of such systems and applying it to the day to day lifestyle living.

There are efficient systems and inefficient systems. And every system is operated by different components in the systems. If a system is to work efficiently and systematically, each of the components is to function the tasks assigned to that individual component accordingly.

A system can work efficiently with a favorable environment, abundant natural resources and most of all intelligent human resources. The most important component of an efficient system is the human component!

Malaysia can create the best system in the universe but if we have a corrupt and racist operator managing the Malaysia dilemmatic system, what do you expect the outputs of this corrupt and racist dilemmatic system?

Hence the axiom, garbage in and garbage out (GIGO) as illustrated in a computer system.

If the Malaysia quality system is to work efficiently, harmoniously, peacefully and prosperously, all the components got to link together and work diligently and efficiently. Then the Malaysia system will produce quality production!

Now if the malay component is practicing corruption, cronyism, deviant religion, misuse of funds, judiciary, powers, and NEP, nepotism, racial discrimination, and etc etc, can anybody expect such Malaysia system to work efficiently? Can MAS, Perwaja, Proton, the government systems work efficiently?

The mockery of the corrupt and racist Malaysia dilemmatic system is that when an input is fed into this system, there is no output from this corrupt and racist dilemmatic system, it is all devoured by the various corrupt components in the corrupt and racist system!

As long as Malaysia is having this corrupt and racist dilemmatic system, we will have the Bolehland dilemma, the Chinese, Iban, Indian, Jakun, Kadazan, Malay, Sakai etc dilemmas, the Malaysian dilemma, and etc.

We can see the obvious problems to the Malaysia dilemma and the solution to this dilemma is to overhaul the corrupt, inefficient, problematic and racist dilemmatic system and replace it with a clean, effective and efficient quality system.

This implies all components in the system got to work effectively, efficiently and impartially according to nature laws - not the deviant religious laws, fancy laws, jungle laws and whim laws.

And what are nature laws? Nature laws are the efficient application of natural resources for human benefits and needs. Not the prodigal and raping use of natural resources for personal luxuries!

Yes, Malaysia wants qualitative production, not quantitative production!

  42. Show me when do the malays consult or ever extend their hands in friendship. Do the malays really treat non-malays with equity and fairness?

Seriously, I think all races in Malaysia treat each others at arms length. The malays expect other races to kowtow to them and never the way around. For example, Chinese and Indians were made to study and learn malay culture but the malays are not made to study or learn Chinese or Indian culture.

Why do the malays have to be in a superior position (oppressive one at that) all the time? What is wrong for Malaysia to have, say a Chinese chief justice or Indian chief of armed forces or even a prime minister!

How do we expect them to continue with their goodwill if we do not ever treat them fair and with equity? I think the malays are paranoid and are projecting their own insecurity onto others.

That is my point and it is time that we begin to envision the land of ours from an inclusively point of view instead of exclusivity point of view. We have to begin this starting point somehow, somewhere and the time is now.

As an adult, trying to make it in the real world, I have developed a clear understanding of what goes on around me.

And this what I believe is the real situation in Malaysia. As long as the malays get their way in how things are done in Malaysia - there will never be any serious development in Malaysia.

This is the fundamental. Please avoid giving example of successful malays, because economically, the numbers are too darn low to mean anything. Negligible they call it.

Malays must realise that as humans - they are I suppose equal. But as people, they have attitude that is exactly like the aborigines of Africa. Completely hopeless, no matter what you give them.

The malays can never win - for as long as they chose to do things the way it is done now. Eventually, the other races would consume them economically, and they would be second class citizens. This is a matter of time.

My opinion is - the only way for them to succeed, is to take away all special rights, and learn to get by on their own abilities. The weak and stupid malays would die - and only the bright ones would survive.

They are doing themselves a favour by taking away their special rights. Because look around you, the other races are getting stronger because our weak ones are dying.

We will continue to get stronger. And there will be a day, when we control all the financial means in the country. Then it is a matter of buying off each one of you puny malays……….and then take over the country.

You are wasting your time by presenting the facts. Fact means nothing to them and you should know that by now. The Malaysian Muslims are seriously stupid and severely retarded. I am simply having fun. I work with them everyday and I cannot describe to you their inability to formulate simple logic.

  43. The history books are full of lies. Not only on the contributions of other races but their content on other religions also has to be thoroughly examined.

Many a time my relatives have to de-learn their kids on the rubbish they are taught in schools. This same rubbish is then used at government seminars to belittle other religions. That is a fact. Under Pak Lah (who supports death for apostasy) - it has increased.

Anyway, Malaysia history books have always been like that - a damn joke. Academicians are too comfy in their ivory towers to butt with the racist politicians who lobbied for such appalling history re-writing.

Then again, how many academicians in Malaysia actually have that much integrity?

Like this is new! The malays are so eager to achieve their ‘ketuanan’ status they can do anything! Lying and falsehood is no problem as they have developed such a thick face over the years. Just living on lies and falsehood is a way of life now!

The sad part of it all is that this latest development is part of the many developments currently being practised to deny the important roles of the Chinese and Indians in the development of this country to what it is today.

It is not a coincidence that the state of development of countries around in this region is directly proportional to the percentage of Chinese populations - Thailand, Philippine, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia.

Fortunately, the non-malays here are essentially non confrontational and let it be. Only grumble here and there so long as everybody can still earn a decent living.

The bad thing is, Malaysia is not using its full potential especially in this global environment and will lose out in the future. The meritocracy is a real joke. Already as far as I know, the local Malaysian Chinese are far behind Chinese from Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and now China. Very soon the malays won’t have someone to rely on……….when the oil runs out.

I know because I was there when Chinese in these countries were equal in capabilities in the 70s and 80s in ICT etc. Continue neglecting the non-malays in areas of trade, education etc, will have profound implications in the years to come.

As far as I am concerned, I am already looking for overseas opportunities not local. If my money grows overseas - it is in line with the NEP. My money won’t be counted so NEP can be achieved. Good for all. NEP is about percentage, not the quantum.

When globalisation comes about, I do predict that many local businesses will go global and not be limited by stupid local politics. That is when the effects of NEP will be telling on those who depended on it. Only the fittest survives.

After all why waste time here. Everything so difficult without delays and bribes. As far as I am concerned I don’t give a damn about what they taught in the history books - It is not my history. I teach my children my version.

We, Chinaman come to Malaysia to make living. We work hard, work in the construction, toil in the sunlight, growing vegetables and fruits, to supply to all of Malaysians regardless of race.

Before we Chinaman come, malays don’t even know how to eat vegetables. So we Chinaman have contributed so much to Malaysia. And we are here to defend this country from rotting. Rotting because the malays are not doing anything about it, except for asking money from government.

They vote the malay government in, so that they can get job from government. Their job in government is very simple. Traveling from one state hotel to another state hotel, talk cock, smoke, sit down, enjoy hotel food, don’t do anything, basically being very unproductive. And still, they are very proud of themselves.

I think the history books should dedicate 1 chapter to Yap Ah Loy, for his vision in developing Kuala Lumpur. Malays just come in to Kuala Lumpur. They didn’t build Kuala Lumpur.

You malays are very insecure……….very insecure.

Where is malays came from originally, could anyone remember? Correct me if I am wrong. Old malays are originally came from south China, the province now called Yunnan in China. Also merge from Sumatra, Jawa, Aceh, etc.

They are not bumis of Malaysia but immigrants like the others, only difference they came earlier. True bumis of the land are the Orang Asli.

Anyway you malays can’t deny that others beside your “people” contributed to the development of this country. Calling others to stop complain also denied their rights as Malaysian citizens.

Or are you thinking that you are far more superior that this type of treatment is fair to us? The real fact is we never wished to be born here, it is unfortunate living in Malaysia and having people like you telling us that we are immigrants and have no rights in this country.

Now the question is why we need to defend this country if it is not our own? You think we are your slaves? Defend a country which we are treated as second class citizens? Is that what you are implying? Does that ring your bell why non-malays preferred not to join the armed forces?

The Portuguese, the Malays, the Japanese, the Indians, the Chinese, the British, the Arabs, had come and some had gone.

Don’t blame others if you want to remain sleeping in the jungle. If not for these immigrants, Malaysia would still remain in the era of the cavemen. Cry your heart out, man!

I have no quarrel with one in this round. I agree with wholeheartedly that the history on Chin Peng is not only scanty but biased and one-sided.

For all his faults, Chin Peng was a true nationalist. He thought Malayan rather than Malay, Indian or Chinese, or in my case, Eurasian.

However he used the wrong approach, i.e. communism in his attempt to unite the country. The British were able to foil his fight for independence for the country by playing the divide and rule card, showing his move as a Chinese one and against the malays.

Umno copied the British tactic of divide and rule which has continued to this day and is the basis of the BN power structure.

But as I explained in the posting, what the retarded fellows are doing is futile, as no one can really distort history and remain credible for long.

If the overwhelming might of the western media cannot hide their past massive slaughter of third world peoples, what can these pathetic morons do? Especially with the birth of the Internet and the increasing ability of people to reason out things?

Indeed, any student who takes a peep into such “history” will no doubt laugh his head off, and I am not talking about five years old. You might ask, then why did the minister says the book is based on facts? Answer: what else can he say?

I am certain that the moment the book was written, the writers themselves already knew they were lying. Such is the insistent power of truth.

It is pretty disheartening to see contributions from the non-malays belittled. Look at the sports, economics, arts etc - non-malays contributions are often neglected. See Tan Sri Robert Kouk, Sir Jimmy Choo, Datuk Michelle Yeoh, etc - the world recognise them.

Patriotism comes form a sense of identity and belonging to the country. Their fundamental role in achieving the independence, the development of Malaysia today, are often overlooked. Furthermore, they are disadvantaged in everything which requires government intervention. Ethno schools, education grants, buying of houses, businesses, etc.

We have more Indonesians receiving PR status as oppose to other races. The world golf champion Vijay Singh ironically was denied PR status.

Malaysia has only a population of above 23 million people. Shanghai in itself is almost equivalent to the whole of Malaysia inhabitants. Are we to focus on which race is the “Jaguh Kampung” to the detriment of the whole of Malaysia while other nations are competing against nations?

Rules, policies, laws etc - to hamper the progress of other races for the benefit of one cannot be applied internationally.

People say the “history is written by those who win the war” in this case Malaysia history - kids today are not stupid as we think, there is this funny thing called the Internet, just type “malay” - you will be able to find out were the malay people came from and how there are related to other races in the world which includes Indian and Chinese civilization.

Indians were here long before any malays were in this land, for a fact - Chadi in Kedah was build by Indian civilisation, no in-depth researches was ever done on this place, on the site - I wonder why?

Malay, Indian or Chinese, what we need to focus is how to be come like other develop country. Peace……….

  44. You malays don’t like it? You leave! We are going to stay! We like it here! Who gives you the right to tell us what to do?

They just jealous because they are loose in economical race. I can understand that. If immigrants more rich than malays, then malays will be jealous like hell. It happens everywhere. If Chinese poor - I am sure malays never become racists but Chinese never made to be poor. We are made to be winner and sorry to the looser who become racists after that.

Malays never beat Chinese in economy even until end of the world - their destiny is to become slaves.

Why we live in your country because it is easier to earn money there - because your peoples have no brains that is why there are no competitive.

We are not scare at you my friend, lots of Chinese already move to other country such as Australia, Singapore or US. We have the money, we can go everywhere we like even going back to China!

God damn, you are really a fool. Why Chinese are everywhere? Here, let me tell you why. In China, it is hard to earn money because the competitive is extremely high. Where in country like Malaysia, there are no competitive at all - the reason is simple, you malays doesn’t know how to do business and earn cash, so all the opportunity goes to the Chinese.

You have brain and you malays are well educated? And want to make Malaysia better? Why Malaysia still likes that? Corrupted, useless, weak junk country! The currency is useless, economy like shit! Think fools!

Thanks to Malaysia? Hahaha! And you said become rich because of Malaysia? No, Chinese become rich because we are hardworking and smart! Fools you! Chinese go everywhere also can live, in Australia, US, and all over the world. Go traveling around and see if you can find any malay! Hahaha!

Become smart because education in Malaysia? Dream! Think smart! Your education system is lousy, suck, useless! The standard is low! Find prove stupid!

Heart? Where is our heart? You malays don’t like Chinese, why do Chinese have to pay our heart to Malaysia?

Point the finger to yourself. What a big fool malay stupid dumbfuck.

Also, visit your brother Indonesia, and you can see all the companies and shops are operated by Chinese. We also conquer your brother economy, fools! Hahaha……….what a joke! Indonesia!

Let us face it. You don’t want Chinese to get out of Malaysia. Because if they did, Malaysia would never develop. They would also bring a great deal of financial wealth and investments with them too.

Note Malaysia is doing well. It certainly isn’t because of the malays.

And Thailand which is another prosperous South-East Asia nation. It also has a large Chinese population and a national culture that is welcoming towards Chinese. At least they have a leader on the South-East Asia knows of how to treat Chinese. It is no wonder that Thailand is on the verge of being a developed nation.

  45. We have never experienced any racial discrimination in any form whatsoever the many years I have been in Canada. A Vietnamese sushi chef here I know was once a refugee at Pulau Betong. He, like many others, I know has prospered and his children have all gone through university.

My view on the future of Malaysia? Well, basically the same as the current African states, if not worse. Why? Because the government is an expert in coming up with new types of taxes to tax the people and use the money collected to throw at the Muslims literally. But are nuts when come to improving economy and social security.

In another 30 years, all the rich Chinese people will emigrate to China, while the rest of them will go to America, Australia and Singapore. What is left? A rotting piece of land with its inhabitants not any better off.

If the current government does not change their arrogant, lazy and stupid attitude, I will not be surprise that 1 Singapore dollar can buy 10 Malaysia rinngits in another 10 years time. Right, the Malaysia government has said that they have not dropped in their standards, just that other nations are growing faster than them.

This is the difference between Malaysia and Singapore. To the Malaysia government, what I want to say is this, “This tiny red dot (Singapore) has evolved from a piece of mud to become a piece of shiny gold, while in the same time span, you have evolved from a piece of wood only to stone, at the very best.”

In the future to come, this red dot will further become a diamond, while its counterpart might just revert back to wood, if not worse.

I still remember of my junior wanted to serve in our Malaysia air force and he was able to design war fighters, but instead he was not retained, he headed south Singapore and he was happily married down there, has a happy family and no way back!

People with the best brains inadvertently mean they know how to think. Therefore they are wise enough not to choose Malaysia as their destination, as it could spell disaster to their reputation as we work differently. Singapore will still be the ideal landing point of such calibre people.

Malaysia will forever be suffering from a massive “brain drain” so long as the Umno-led government keeps in place the malay agenda. To forego the agenda is too costly sacrifice which the Umno-malays cannot make. A clear symptom of an inferiority complex.

  46. Like what have been said by MJSM all chinese are badly blinded by their greed. They didnt even know that Malaysian constitution is like what it is today because their forefathers who agreed to what had been brokered by the British during the independence negotiation.
If you dont like we malays why call by many bad names, why curse the malays it is not their fault to design the constituition that way.If you dont really like the malays just go away from here and find a country that can give you peace and racial harmony,or dont even dare to use Tunku Abdul Rahman’s name any more to your local chinese university(TAR Coll). It is really an act of hypocrisy.Tak malu ke you all hentam melayu dengan segala nama burok tetapi pakai nama Tunku. That is PARIAH man!!.Change the college name.Check for yourself you young chinese why your peers respect the TUNGKU very much.Dont dare to play faul here.

Leave the malays alone and let them be stupid, dumb or what ever.I think they are more happy like that rather than being labelled as pig, cow or what so ever bad names. You chinese dont have to trouble to crack your head, make your heart painfull just because the malays are like that. I say again Just pack your bag and go to other better and greener places. From now on I say that is our favourite phrase.Thats simple.

Go see in Thailand how your brothers live there cant even practise chinese,no chinese name ,no chinese culture except once a year during kgong si fa chai.

Go to Indonesia your brothers there dont even have a single chinese daily, speak indonesian, name in indoinesia.even home must reflect culture of JAWA.Less talk of setting up chinese school.Go to Vietnam,go to Cambodia see for yourselves and you cant find a single chinese and yet all of them look chinese.
In malaysia you are given almost chinese rights and wants so what more you all wants.Even white America dont give fair treatment to blacks and hispanics. If we are talking about unfairness.Untill now New Orleans the city of black majority is not fully helped by the Bush administeration.

You chinese always say that you all are alot smarter than the Malays,ok we buy and we admit that after seeing that phenomena for ages.Being that why complain so much not being able to depend on the government for many things.Creat your own businesses and employments like your peers Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong,TanSri Robert Quok and brothers and many more successful and multi millionairs Malaysian Chinese that like malaysia much more than you do.

You must also note too that chinese in Malaysia are prosperous not because of chinese alone but we Malays the majority support your businesses too by being the consumers. The basic busines rule is that no consumers no buyers. If you cant understand this basic rule go ask TAR College in Gombak.

All you chinese hate to work as police men, hate to work as an army men and many more professions that allign with war and DEATH and yet you say that the government descriminate you. What you care only earning more money as if the malays dont like earning good money. You prefer to dirty your hands to be mechanic rather than becoming a uniform men.It takes alot of persuading and seminars for the government to call for non malays to joint army and police but to no avail because of your indifferent nagetive attitude. What all of you always say leave the job of defending the country from outside aggrasion to the Malays and let them die for us to earn our living .This very very ungreatful with some of you.

When the government call for the compulsory PLKN three months trainee millions of reasons given for not wanting to joint.

You must remember that we dont hate you but what we are doing is we are trying to be better also like other races. There maybe short change and short cuts somewhere sometimes but you people still have many chances of being rich in malaysia. The better we are economically and financially the more your businesses will have affordable buyers.

You can check my words:try ask any Malays who generally built urbans and towns in malysia and I bet they will admit that the chinese.

I wasnt a racist person, but after I tried so many times wasting my time typing all sorts of articles regarding the special rights and the multi racials society, all I got is just a pile of negative comments and letters.. and calling me a racist person and asking me to go out from the country if i dont like Malaysia. Think of it.. If we dont like Malaysia.. Why should i spent hours writing the articles.. and they were all written in Malay so they will understand it better, and my English aint good either. Well.. they said.. go away if u dun like this place.. and I did. I live in Australia now, and I am a visual artist, and i survive beautifully and I have a handsome pay as well.. THANK GOD.

  48. Hello Mr. Nikman,

I agree with some of your point of view. It’s true that chinese in malaysia, in general, enjoy own culture compare to other country. However, I must also say that this kinda of privileages will not sustain long for next two generations as you can probably see from the policy taken by the government (silence method), and some of the radical remark or statement made by some wellknown malay politician lately (we all knowlah ha.. don’t have to mention the name here).
Another point you given was that the chinese don’t like to join arm force or police force.. that I don’t agree coz it’s the hiring people in the arm or police force systematically reject non-bumi candidate, especially the chinese.
Like I said again, it’s the mentality of disgruntle as a result of strong sense of “This is tanah melayu” and “bumiputera”. Just imagine the tax that you for the government was channel to systematically help out the malays (i.e. contract, education, social plan, housing plan, etc) and buyout non-bumi assets. It is entirely and pratically putting the golds on a big plate and knee down and two hands submit to you. The policy has created huge wealth to Malay and has controlled more than 50% of economy equity (if taking into the figure of Government-linked company). Unfortunately, the noise of crying for protection still so strong (i.e. the recent case in Penang from that racial incited-polical gain minded darkskin fellow) …I guess greed and lazy become habit of you… Ehhh you don’t feel a bit of malu?
For the non-malays, please don’t use the nasty word like “pig” and “babi” to critizise our malay friend here.. don’t use ugly to throw out your feeling.. coz it doesn’t help as this forum is suppose to allow people to express their view and judgement, not dirty word.
    God bless Malaysia
    James

  51. Comment to Anonymous and the Mat Kilau,

Hey you two pathethics… and all the malay who has the same feeling/thinking like them….You guys don’t feel malu being spoon feed by government using the tax payer money?? i guess all the protection policy make u all even more stupid and lazy and narrow minded. The majority of you folk once step out of the Malaysia soil will sure starve to death. Let’s put it this way, when other race (non-bumi), jealousy and disgruntle feeling will start boiling in your head, and if there is a little accomplishment achieved in your community… showing-off start to creep in on your appearance, yet still disgruntled and crying for protection. How pathethatic is that man!
Hey i think you guys should try some babi meat once a while to make u more intelligent a bit.. .Look at around the world region, anti-pork meat countries are mostly rippled with war and surving or worst non-stop crying for government policy protection.
Fact is fact when u are stupid is always stupid .. though it can be help by consistent protection and nurishment policy.. but the end result will not go far because the quality of gene is there. Yes there will be smart malays produced as a result of the several decades of policy… but the number of these elite malays can be counted in finger.

  52. To all the pathetic malay folks,

Guna otak a little bit before you write down your comment on this forum…

Imagine what will happen if all the non-bumi leave this country, do you think you guys still have the privileage of all the favor policy from your same color skin brother government, such as 30% equity, discount at buying asset, easy access to government contract, education scholarship… etc.. ?? It is very likely to disappear all of a sudden right? coz when that time come, you guys will not have any scapegot to blame for, and to venge your disgruntle feeling.. staff like “ini tanah melayu”… correct.. do u see the logic here., and at that time come, trust me . the progress of malaysia will come a halt. Malaysia has been blessed with all the natural resources, and yet our progress never go far enough like the speed of China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore (u knowlah basically the orient .. the yellow man).. where there is no resources at all.. and recently travel to Hong Kong, I was amazed that economy activity in this tiny island (comparable to singapre), and the efficiency of the people here..
I guess our dark brown color skin-led government is not doing a good job. They are more interested of pressing down the interest of one party and pushing up the interest of their brother (which is way too much) at all cost, instead of the whole country progressment..

I laugh at you. so think first ok before keep saying “balik dan keluar dari tanah malayu”

  53. to mr james and all the chinese in malaysia.

TANAH MELAYU AKAN LEBIH ELOK JIKA TAK ADA ORANG CINA. EKONOMI LEMBAB PUN TAK APA ASALKAN TAK ADA ORANG CINA YANG SENTIASA TAMAK DAN MEMBUAT PERNIAGAAN YANG MERUNTUHKAN BUDAYA DAN BERASAS KAN MAKSIAT SEPERTI PELACURAN , PERJUDIAN , RUMAH URUT , CETAK ROMPAK , ALONG , DISKO , PUB , PIL KHAYAL YANG DATANG DARI HONG KONG DAN BERMACAM-MACAM LAGI.

ALANGKAH INDAHNYA JIKA TANAH MELAYU HANYA ADA ORANG MELAYU. AMAN DAN TENTERAM DENGAN TIDAK ADA PERKARA DIATAS.

BIARLAH KAMI TIDAK MEMBANGUN PUN TIDAK MENGAPA TETAPI DAPAT HIDUP SELESA DENGAN CARA KAMI SENDIRI DARIPADA MELIHAT KEMUSNAHAN AKIBAT DARI PERKARA DIATAS.

so folks… i think the chinese better leave this country a.s.a.p cause we don’t need the contribution from u all. we have our own way to do it. better have slow progressment than to live with chinese people. like latin country with no chinese inside , they still can do it. so all the chinese please leave this country

  54. I guess the problem of bangsa melayu is their culture… it’s in born in their gene… nowhere in the world that you will see affirmative action is forcusing on the majority coz it’s always the minority that need the protection…. worst, the minority in malaysia has been systematically been marginalized just to suppress them of their growth. Well.. i received this article from a friend and it’s from Mr. Mahatir… and i would like to share with the malays folk so that they can more aware what is going on….

    The New Malay Dilemma
    By Mahathir Mohamad
    Little Speck

By former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (reproduced) on Malays remaining behind others despite privileges.

The Malays are among the few people whose race is legally defined. Thus, the Malaysian Constitution states that a Malay is one who habitually speaks Malay, professes the religion of Islam and practises Malay customs.

There is nothing said about the definitive culture of the Malays. It follows that changes in culture do not make a Malay person a non-Malay.

Culture is made up largely of the value systems accepted, even if not actually practiced by a people or a race. Observations have shown that the culture of a people determines whether they are successful or they fail…

Europeans, Asians, Africans and American Indians can all be successful and can all fail. It is, therefore, not the race or ethnicity which determines success. It is the culture.

When I wrote The Malay Dilemma in the late 60s, I had assumed that all the Malays lacked the opportunities to develop and become successful.
They lacked opportunities for educating themselves, opportunities to earn enough to go into business, opportunities to train in the required vocation, opportunities to obtain the necessary funding, licences and premises.

If these opportunities could be made available to them, then they would succeed…

…. But today, the attitude has changed. Getting scholarships and places in the universities at home and abroad is considered a matter of right and is not valued any more.

Indeed, those who get these educational opportunities for some unknown reason seem to dislike the very people who created these opportunities.

Worse still, they don’t seem to appreciate the opportunities that they get.

They become more interested in other things, politics in particular, to the detriment of their studies.

In business, the vast majority regarded the opportunities given them as something to be exploited for the quickest return…

They learn nothing about business and become even less capable at doing business and earning an income from their activities.

They become mere sleeping partners and at times not even that. Having sold, they no longer have anything to do with the business. They would go to the government for more licences, permits, shares, etc…

…. Why has this thing happened? The answer lies in the culture of the Malays. They are laid-back and prone to take the easy way out. And the easy way out is to sell off whatever they get and ask for more. This is their culture.

Working hard, taking risks and being patient is not a part of their culture. It should be remembered that in the past the Malays were not prepared to take up the jobs created by the colonial powers in their effort to exploit the country.

Because the Malays were not prepared to work in rubber estates and the mines, the Indians and Chinese were brought in. At one time, the migrants outnumbered the Malays.

Had they continued to outnumber the Malays, independent Malaya would be like independent Singapore.

But the Malays have apparently learnt nothing from the near loss of their country in the past.

Today, they are still unwilling to work and foreign workers are again flooding the country. And because they are not equipping themselves with the necessary education and skills, they have continued to depend on others.

Their political dominance will protect them for a time. But that dominance is fading very fast as they quarrel among themselves and break up into small ineffective groups. Their numerical superiority means less today than at the time of Independence…

… The Malays, together with the other Bumiputeras, make up 60 per cent of the country’s population. But in terms of their political clout, it is now much less than 60 per cent.

They are now more dependent on non-Malay support, both the government party and the opposition.

Economically, of course, they have less than half the 30-per-cent share that has been allocated to them. If we discount the non-Malay contribution to the nation’s economy, Malaysia would be not much better than some of the African developing countries.

To succeed, the Malays must change their culture. They must look towards work as a reward in itself. They must regard what they achieve through work as the true reward.

There should be some financial reward but this must not outweigh the satisfaction obtained from the result of their work…

… Changing culture is far more difficult than changing the policies of government. It is easy enough to propose affirmative action but it is not easy to implement it.

The recipients must have the right attitude if the results are going to be obtained…

.. Unfortunately, their view is that their crutches are symbols of their superior status in the country. The sad thing is that they are not even using the crutches properly. As a result, they gain nothing or very little from the availability of these aids…

… So what is the new Malay dilemma? Their old dilemma was whether they should distort the picture a little in order to help themselves.

The new dilemma is whether they should or should not do away with the crutches that they have got used to, which in fact they have become proud of.

There is a minority of Malays who are confident enough to think of doing away with the crutches, albeit gradually. But they are a very small minority.

Their numbers are not going to increase any time soon. They are generally regarded as traitors to the Malay race…

… There will be a host of protests over this generalisation about Malay attitudes. We read almost every day about blind Malay people and other handicapped Malays graduating with university degrees or driving cars or doing all kinds of work.

This does not prove that the generalisation that I make is wrong. These are exceptions. They only prove that if the right attitude or culture is adopted, even the handicapped can succeed.

The dilemma faced by those few who want to build a strong, resilient and independent Malay race without crutches is that they are most likely to end up becoming unpopular and losing the ability to influence the changes in the culture and the value system which are necessary.

It seems that they should not try and yet they know that without the cultural changes, the Malays are going to fail.

  55. After spent sometimes to read the above, I feel bad. 1st of all I would like to know who give the definition of “BUMI”??? If Chinese is not Bumi, Indian is Not bumi then neither Malay is Bumi. The Bumi should refer to those who is really stay in this land even non of the Malay, Chinese or Indian came before. What I read from the history is: Malay also migrate from Indonesia especially during Parameswara (He is from Palembang, Sumantera).
Why the Malay can become the majority??Think twice b4 you answer. We have some Chinese, Malay not even can get the citizenship after so many years they stay in this land. But those Indonesian workers can easily become Malaysian.
And why the richest people here is mostly Chinese, Indian? Is our effort and our hardworking. Dont expect the money will fall from the sky if you dont work hard. Why Malay not able to become richest? Bcoz most of them (not all) alwayws depends on Government to help them, if dont help then will complaint and threthen. Of course, Government will help as most of them also made up of Malay.

  56. Everyone please calm down.. All of this is just another issue for everyone to vote on come elections, that is to support the party of your choice and elect that someone which you think best represent your views and ideals. We as the melting-pot citizens of Malaysia should not try to make matters worse by quickly and simply judging someone other than their own colour and religous beliefs through random, whether intentional or not, acts of racism.. either by seeing it first-hand or reading it off somewhere. And especially not practicing such discriminatory acts in our daily life and in the streets. Let the elected politicians handle this. They already have a lot on their table. Let the top management people of this country see us and admire us though, the lower denizens, by getting along well. Ultimately, they would act according to the interests of the people they represent and were elected upon. Maybe I have a naive view on this, but if people like us, the average Jane & Joe, get along, then surely our leaders will take note of this and come up with better agreements and results for everyone. Tolerance is the key word here. Vengeance is not. There is no need to dictate who belongs to where now and the origin of any rights. We are where we are supposed to be today. We live and grow up in Ma
