I have been travelling the past few days, and will be until sunday aswell. Travelling is something I love, for all sorts of different reasons. On of the things I noticed is that a border town in spain looks like this

Just a few kilometres away, across the french border, we can find a town like this

Why the change? Why is it that something that looks like a poor peasants town in Spain can look so grand and Napoleonic in France? I think that it has something to do not only with the french obsession with grandness, but with the period of economic and social isolation established by the Fascist Franco Regime in Spain. Strange…. anybody know anything about this?
